Do you need to pause?
From the pages of the owner’s manual for our lives, God informs us that we are meant to follow a rhythm of work and rest. He must have known that we would all be tempted to not take it seriously because He elevated it to the status of His Top 10 list. As we look at Scripture, we learn that rest and rejuvenation are serious business to God.
In our pressure-packed lives we have difficulty maintaining a healthy balance between work and rest. We keep running in an exhausted state or just stop altogether. Our decision-making, our health suffers. Our relationships suffer… even, at times, our relationships with God.
In this series we will be encouraged to live with these tensions in balance, much like Jesus did when He walked the earth. We will see from the book of Mark how Jesus paused for times of Sabbath rest, and what He did in those times when He was tired and stressed to maintain His sanity as well as balance in His relationships with God and others. And we will see from the greater context of Scripture what it means to “pause."
