We view our children as a precious resource, not only for the contribution they will make tomorrow, but for the vital role they play in the church today! We are committed to making your child's time with us safe, fun, and inspiring. We want kids to enjoy their experience at Grace and to grow in their relationship with Christ. We want them to want to come to church!
Sunday morning worship services
During our 9am and 10:45am services, we provide fun and exciting children's ministry opportunities for kids of all ages! When you arrive, you will find a check-in table in the breezeway just outside the children's ministry wing where you can sign in your kids, meet some of the children's ministry staff, ask any questions you have, and be directed to the right room(s).
Babies and toddlers are lovingly nurtured in our nursery with our lead care provider, Faith. She is assisted by competent and trained adult and teen volunteers. Infants are held and rocked, and a private space is provided for nursing mothers. Toddlers are joyfully cared for with age-appropriate activities including Bible stories, art, imaginative play, and outdoor play.
We also have classes for preschool kids, as well as classes for those in kindergarten—2nd grade and another for 3rd-5th grade. Children learn a Bible story, and then apply biblical truths through discussion, games, and activities.
If you would prefer, your children can also be with you during the worship services. If you would like for them to be with you for the first few minutes during the opening worship time but then have them going into the children's ministry, just be sure to check them in when you arrive and let the teacher know when you plan to return.
YouthWAV on Sunday afternoons
YouthWAV (Youth With a Vision) is a youth group for 3rd-5th grade students that meets twice a month, from 4-6 p.m., at the church. During YouthWAV, students participate in games, a Bible lesson, and discussion. YouthWAV also runs quarterly service projects and special events. During the summer months we meet for 'swim and study' from 4-6 p.m. at the homes of our children's ministry leaders.
We want to offer kids the chance to know Christ and present ways to build a personal relationship with Him. At Grace every child is welcomed, loved, and challenged to grow in Christ.
Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School is a fun and exciting one-week program for children for those who the following fall will be going into kindergarden to 6th grade. VBS happens every June, and it is an event that we undertake as a whole church. Everyone helps, from young teens to senior citizens, bringing about the delightful situation of having as many adults involved in VBS as we have children! Registrations are handled by clicking on the VBS logo scrolling on the home page as the date for VBS nears. For more information, email Mel and Lucy.
Our children's ministry is headed up by Melanie Irwin and Lucy Hill, assisted by a group of experienced, creative, and caring volunteers. All of our children's volunteers have been screened through application, reference checks, and a background check. Our children's volunteers have also been trained in safety guidelines, and are expected to follow them so that every child is cared for in a safe environment.
At Grace, we offer children opportunities to know Christ personally, to base their identity in Christ, to grow in Christ, and to share Christ with their friends. Each child is welcomed and loved as a unique individual.
