“I promise …”
Every political season, men and women around the country compete for their shot at election or re-election to office. As they do, they make lots of promises.
We listen to the speeches, decide who we agree with and go to the voting booth. Before long, we do it all again, often asking why some of these promises weren’t kept the last time.
It is easy to become cynical and assume that these are nothing more than empty promises. But what if we did more than just listen and vote? What if we, as followers of Jesus, were responsible to bring the change that Christ would want to see in our communities on these issues? Those of us who have made a commitment to follow Christ have also publicly committed to keep a set of promises in our world. What are those promises?
Join us as we take a look at some of the biggest promises politicians are making in our day. Along the way, we’ll consider fulfilling a promise or two that will make the world notice.
Now more than ever, the world is watching to see who might step up and do something about the challenges facing our world. Let’s not just call for change, let’s be the change and live like public servants ourselves, around the issues that we think matter most!
