Because relationships matter.

Let’s face it — these days, fake is easy to find.

Whether trying to see past someone’s too-perfect profile online or trying to really get to know someone and their struggles, authenticity can be hard to come by. We long for real relationships — for friends who love us enough to tell us the truth — for places where we can just be ourselves. But how do we find them?

It seems the smaller and more technologically advanced the world gets, the less real and more isolated we become in our relationships, without even realizing it. Social media, designed to help us share life with one another, leads us to be superficial and share only the best of ourselves; we unintentionally start to compare our lives and “likes” to theirs. The implied goal of many on platforms like Facebook is to put your best face out there, which isn't contributing to authentic community and personal connection.

God doesn’t want us to live in a world of Fakebook; this world is not our home. When we are no longer inadequate around others or concerned about their approval, we can find our approval and sufficiency in God. We speak the truth in love, and love to speak the truth around each other.

Join us during the “month of love” in February as we talk about how to be truly loving and genuine.

Let’s get real — because fake is just exhausting.
