Grace in Transition

Our vision: Imagine an authentic community where people are becoming fully-devoted followers of Christ and taking His love to Tucson and the world!

After 17 years of ministry at Grace, Pastor Scot Gillan has followed God’s call to a Covenant church in Naperville, IL. The Grace Transition Team (GTT) has been formed by your Church Council to begin the process of searching for a new senior pastor. Associate Pastor Jed Hollenbach will continue to provide pastoral care and leadership during this period.

We are excited to welcome Pastor Doug Stevens as our Transitional Lead Pastor. Doug will provide pastoral leadership and coaching to assist us in our search process. Doug brings a wealth of experience and ideas with him, and we're confident God will use him in a big way as we seek the Lord's will for our future. You can learn more about Doug on his bio page.

The members of the GTT are: Charlie Lehardy (chairman), Steve Peterson (vice-chairman), Michelle Fleming (secretary), Cindy Baker, Jim Heddles, Meta Mason, Deb Peterson, Rick Sims and Dan Wittenberg. The GTT serves in an advisory capacity to our Grace Council.

The GTT is currently focusing on the following 5 things:

  • Pray for the transition process.
  • Communicate with the church to give and receive feedback during the transition.
  • Work closely with Pastor Doug, Pastor Jed and the Council.
  • Consider what the church staffing will look like after the transition period.
  • Develop a profile of the church to provide to Lead Pastor candidates.

You Can Help

First, pray for your church, your Council and the GTT. Pray that we will hear God's voice and discern His will for our church.

Second, find your place of service at Grace. Put your gifts and passions to work! God is not standing still while we look for a new pastor!

Third, tell us what you think. What do you love about Grace? How would you like to see us grow and change under new leadership? Where do you see God challenging us? How should we be reaching our community and the world?

The GTT will be organizing small group meetings to solicit your ideas about our church and its future.

Until then, here are three questions to think about:

  • What about Grace should we celebrate?
  • What are your concerns about our church?
  • What is one hope you have for the future?
