David and Teresa Hillis

David Hillis was born and raised in rural Georgia where he attended a Bible-based church. In college at Georgia Southern University, David's faith became personal to him and he recommitted his life to Christ. After graduating with a degree in journalism from GSU, David felt a call to full time ministry and moved to Arizona to help with a church plant. While receiving his Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary, David served in several churches part time. He most recently served as the Pastor of Christian Formation at Hope Covenant Church in Chandler, Arizona. David is married to Teresa, a native of Peru. They are parents to eight year old Isaac.

David is passionate about seeing God’s church take an active lead in ministries of compassion, justice, and mercy in our communities. He has spearheaded the fight in Phoenix against human trafficking. Working with law enforcement, civil agencies, and other faith based agencies, David has worked to bring awareness to the issue and help those affected find support in starting a new life free of slavery. He looks forward to helping Grace identify ministry opportunities in Oro Valley and Tucson where the compassionate love of Jesus can heal our community.

David and Teresa have felt God’s call on their lives to join us at Grace in fulfilling our mission and vision to Love God, Follow Christ, and Make a Kingdom Difference. It is their desire to help Grace realize our vision to imagine an authentic community where people are becoming fully devoted followers of Christ and taking His love to Tucson and the world.
