What We Believe Ministry Programs

Alpha is an opportunity to explore the basics of the Christian faith in a low-key, friendly setting. Strong friendships inevitably result. There is no charge for Alpha.

The course is especially designed for people exploring Christianity and for Christians who wish to go deeper in their faith. Alpha is a safe, fun place to get answers to your questions.

Here at Grace we offer Alpha over ten weekly evening sessions. The evening starts with a simple meal. After the meal there is a video-based talk. After the talk there is a relaxed small-group discussion. Nobody has to speak unless they want to.

The next Alpha will begin January 13, 2010. Dinner starts at 6 pm. Dates and topics covered are as follows:

    Celebration dinner (1/13)
Week 1 (1/20): Who is Jesus?
Week 2 (1/27): Why did Jesus die?
Week 3 (2/3): How can I be sure of my faith?
Week 4 (2/10): Why and how do I pray?
(2/17): Ash Wednesday Week 5 (2/24): Why and how should I read the Bible?
Week 6 (3/3): How does God guide us?
    Holy Spirit retreat (3/6-7)
Week 7 (3/10): How can I resist evil?
Week 8 (3/17): Why and how should we tell others?
Week 9 (3/24): Does God heal today?
Week 10 (3/31): What about the church?

During the course (3/6-7) there is a voluntary retreat covering the following subjects:

    Who is the Holy Spirit?
What does the Holy Spirit do?
How can I be filled with the Holy Spirit?
How can I make the most of the rest of my life?
